If it's still dry I throw on my trail running shoes that have an aggressive tread. They are great for early season spot and stalk mulies or if I'm chasing elk, where I'm covering lots of ground quickly.

I will wear my Whites Smokejumpers for probably 90% of my hunting. Even if it gets a little cold, I will still wear them. Deer, birds, rabbits, hiking, whatever, they go on just about every time I hit the trail or hunting grounds. The only time I wear my Cabelas Outfitter boots is when I am ice fishing, or there is more than about 2" of snow on the ground.

The past four years or so I have worn an Italian made boot that was great. Unfortunately they have been discontinued and the pair I have will soon see their last hunt.

On the recommendation from a couple of other elk hunters (bow hunters) I ordered a pair of Renegade II GTX 's. They are made from a company called Lowa.My first impression after walking around in this hiking type boot is very positive.
I have also heard that the cheaper version called Klondike II is also a good boot.

You will bewise to havegood fitting qualityfootwear.

I wear light hking boots, made out of some kind of tough fabric. My sneakers are white and I don't hunt wearing white.

i'm usually not moving around a whole lot so i wear the rubber boots. usuallyit's kinda muddy and wet wear i hunt but i have worn tennis shoes on more than one occasion. including a time or two when i would've rather had the rubber boots.

For warm weather I also use tennis shoes with the aggressive tread with a high top for ankle support. I also have a good pair of boots in camp if it turns cold, rainy or even snow.

I wear cowboy boots with a vibram sole, thats about all I wear for early season foot wear.
I like a solid leather boot with a water resitant out side.If it's cold I wear my Danner elk hunters with 600 gm insulation.

Hiking boot for me. It's a little warm during hot weather, but keeps you warm during the cooler weather. Plus, its comfortable and waterproof!
