What kind of odds do you have on these type of hunts MB? Sixteen years is a long time not to draw.

Well no draw here [:@] There was 4 people that put in on all 3 moose,sheep,goat. Not one of us drew. We have been puting in for 8 years.

It sucks I know a few guys that draw evry year that they can. The 1st dang try.I went last year and helped a guy get his moose.My horses packed out a moose the 1st day.The bad part is there was 7 tags ALL BUT 1 out of the 7 worked for fish and game or where very good friends that drew that units tags.I am not much for the way tags are handed out.Tim a guy I know drawed the 380 elk tag 3 years in a row. Boy he must have been lucky.With thouse odds he should have bought some loto tickets.

What kind of odds do you have on these type of hunts MB? Sixteen years is a long time not to draw.

It's difficult to say what the odds are as we have a bonus point system which isn't tallied into the quota's, so you don't really know how many people had multipal chances.
I also don't like Montana's quota system.
You are apply for these tags by a certain deadline using the last years quota info. Then they can change the quota after the deadline as was the case for my second choice on sheep and 1st on Moose which they reduced by 50% after my application was in.

I did not state it but we all have full preferance points. I beleave it to be 3 this last year. Next year will be 4 :{

This is the 24th year for me that I have not drawn a sheep, goat or moose tag. I have yet to draw a breaks rifle bull elk tag either. Oh well I am saving for a guide sheep trip in Canada or Alaska.

Here is what I mean. You try and base your decsion on a place to hunt by the previous years quota. After you send in your APP they then change the quota. Had I knew before hand that my chances would be ZIP to draw for that area I would have never applied. Why can't I have this info ahead of time[X(]

MOOSE

Moose quota reductions are proposed in portions of FWP Regions 2, 3, and 5. The reductions in FWP Region 2 and 3 are proposed after recent harvests brought moose populations into balance with landowner tolerance and available browse. In FWP Region 5, quota reductions are proposed southwest of Billings in hunting districts 514 and 515 where recent surveys show a decline in moose populations. Moose quotas would remain unchanged in FWP Regions 1 and 4.

BIGHORN SHEEP

Bighorn sheep quotas remain similar to last year with some exceptions. The adult ewe quota in hunting district 270 in the Upper Bitterroot would be reduced from 20 to 10. The proposed either-sex quota in hunting district 340, south of Butte, would increase from one to three. Quotas for adult ewes would also increase from five to 15 in hunting districts 422, 423 and 424. In hunting district 503, near Billings, the legal ram quota would increase from one to three.
There was some good news though as I failed to draw a turkey tag for the spring and they have increased the quota for my area.
Fall Turkey

* In the Bitterroot Valley, the 285-50 permit quota for fall turkey, is proposed to increase from 150 to 300 permits valid on the west side of the valley.

My wife drew a Moose permit.She had 4-bonus points.
I did not draw anything.

Dang it, I just chequed it out and didn't get drawn for the moose. Makes my 5th year I haven't gotten drawn using the bonus point system, odds should get better each year.
I just might have to look into a moose hunt in B.C. or Alberta. Bobby
