Any chance there will be a spring black bear season in 2006 up in maine? Also I'm wondering if anywhere else in the northeast US has a black bear season?
There is no chance of spring bear hunting in Maine . Last year there was a vote to ban the use of baits and dogs for bear hunting that was defeated. Also the DIF&W has said that the fall hunting season is keeping the bear population where they want it. The Sportsman's Alliance of Maine the main sportsman lobby in Maine is not pushing it at all.
I am in Va. and go to Maine to hunt the referndum had me worried and needless to say many other folks who count on the Bear hunting to feed their families. I believe the vote ended up 52% against and 48% for so at this point I think they are happy with what they still have.
