Default strut & spindle question '00 Sub. Outback

This weekend I hit a curb avoiding a moped that cut me off, and ripped the sidewall of my right front tire and bent the strut & spindle. Got new tires. Any of you gear heads have a ballpark idea of what $$ I'm looking at to replace the bent parts? $700,800, 1k???I figure laborruns about $90/hr...ouch!

In Hawaii...?...well bend over and spell RUN [&:]

Go to www.carparts.com or www.napa.com and see if they list the parts you need there?I'm guessing the parts will run around $300.00 plus Labor cost....can you turn it in to your Insurance Co.?

A new strut is going to be several times more expensive than a good used one.

If you had the tools, you could do some of the work yourself.

But my guess is that if you did that much damage - you also damaged the lower control arm andthe ball joint - so you are looking at more than just a spindle and strut replacement.

Along with a good front end alignment and a check on the frame machine by a qualified mechanic.

Your best bet is to turn it into the insurance company and pay the deductable.

Go to www.car-part.com and look up the price of the needed components.

Unfortunately, I can't answer your question. However, there is a Subaru forum I have frequented for problems I have had with my wife's '01 Outback. The guys there are quite knowledgeable and helpful. You might want to give them a try, or at least keep the website bookmarked for future reference. Good luck.
