Are you able to tell an English sparrow from all the other species of protected sparrows?

you sure seem to dis like a lot of critters your way
have you ever read a hunting rules and regulation book, by your states game dept?
as you might be breaking a few laws with your posts if you follow them up
as for air gun accuracy, you sort of get what you pay for on air guns, cheaper one's tend to be less consistent from shot to shot, and thats why good one's cost more
for there repeatable accuracy in them from shot to shot
as for scopes, same deal here, GOOD one's are never cheap, and AIR guns are harder on scopes than BIG bore rifles, so don't use a basic gun/rifle scope on an air rifle
but a scope MADE for air guns!

Yes I have read my regs, English (aka invasive non-native) sparrows and starlings are pests and legal to kill.

its due to the way the recoil from the air , do a little web surfing should be a lot of better explaining than this if you care to learn

but yes, basic rifle scopes on air rifles is a NO NO!

Even moderately priced air rifles can be way accurate at shorter ranges. I have an air pistol, I call my Rat gun. I can hit a marble at 30 feet and a Rat at 60 feet.

Before I got my Terriers we had a Rat problem, I'd pick them off at sixty feet fairly regularly with an air pistol, didn't need a scope.

I keep the Birds out of my Berries with a fake Owl. I glued a few pieces of tinsel and a few loose feathers on it, just so it looks like it is moving..
