RE: Ruger 77/44
Anything over 100 yards is realy pushing the 44mag even from a rifle. I would suggest sticking to 260-300gr bullets for long range work their higher momentum will produce more penitration.
It will be compeable to shooting a sabot load in a muzzle loader with just 80-90grs of powder and there is better to have the heavier bullets for long range than the 180-250gr bullets.
I would seriously look at Garrett and Buffalo Bore ammo for deer and a 44mag carbine.
