You really haven't been paying attention, have you? There is no intelligence in our government, especially right now with Nazi Pelosi, Harry "the Red" Reid and Chairman Maobama running the show in DC, only far-left (aka Marxist) idealists who care only about pushing their agenda to shape this country into another Europeans-style socialist state and gather up and maintain as much power as they can for as long as they can. Look at the just passed (non-)stimulus bill and the soon to come financial bailout part 2, both combined to the tune of 2 TRILLION dollars. The stimulus bill is just a great big liberal wish list of far-left socialist pork projects that scratch the backs of unions and ACORN types, but won't actually do anything in the long run to hasten the end of this recession (in fact, the Congressional budget office gave congress a report that the bill would actually cause a net LOSS in GDP over the long run, versus doing nothing which would create slow but steady growth). Obama and the dems foisted this on us by using FEAR POLITICS (so much for the bright and shiny hope and change message) to scare us into believing that this bill had to pass RIGHT NOW or we were all going to be eating out of dumpsters by the end of the week. The urgency wasn't because the bill was going to help anything, but rather because Obama knew that the longer it spent in legislative limbo, the more time the sane members of congress had to get the word out to the American Taxpayer about how bad this bill really was. The support numbers were sinking fast and the libs knew that if they didn't get their socialist wish list passed quickly the American taxpayers wouldn't go for it.

So no, I wouldn't count on the government to do anything intelligent for the next few years, at least. The best thing congress could do for us now is to recess and take a LONG vacation. The less the government gets done, the better.
