Default After my first PRB deer, just a matter of time...

I've got a decent PRB load worked-up for my CVA "Frontier" rifle (looks like a halfstock Hawken) and I'm aimin' to take a deer off my 30 acre ranch with it.

Yesterday evening I got a shot at a grey fox... I at least clipped him because I heard him squalling after the shot but never found him, what with all the danged smoke and all, not even sure which direction he took-off.

This morning, I blasted a cactus-rat near my feederwith thesame gun. At first, all I could find was scraps of meat and fur where he'd been sitting (again, hard to tell what's happening once that smoke belches hence).

A few minutes later, I found what was left of him abt 4 feet to the side. What amounted to basically just a hollowed out rat-skin with a tail and one hindfoot still attached.

Head, guts, everything else just evaporated under the impact of that 'little' .445 ball. 'Tweren't enough meatleft to make a sick man a cup-of-soup.

Feeling good about my chances for a deer. I'll keep y'all posted.

I'm keeping "Shorty" on the rack until I can get one with the Hawken...
