Looking for suggestions here.I am looking to buy my son a youth model .270 brand doesn't really matter. I would prefer it be a bolt action and synthetic because price is a concern for me right now. He will only be using it deer hunting. He is 12 years old but still has trouble with a regular size rifle. I don't want a single shot. Help me out folks.
Try these:
Not .270, but a great cartridge, nonetheless:

Just what you asked for:

The key will be to get him to a place that actually
has some of the models for him to actually pick up &
shoulder for himself. Even if it's not in .270, he can get a good idea of the handling from any long-action cartridge: .30-'06, .25-'06, .280, etc. If the gun doesn't fit him right, it really won't matter how much money you save.
Also, you can check the classified sections of this & other websites. Try a WTB post: "wanted to buy". You might be surprised at how accomodating folks become when the matter concerns bringing a young hunter into the fold!
Good Luck,
FC
