I got out yesterday, pretty decent morning weather wise, had a small doe come out at first light then 2 spikes showed up around 8:30am.
Nothing after that until one of the spikes came back around 4:15pm.
The red top turnips in my winter food plot are starting to pop out of the ground, hopefully once we get a couple of frosts the deer will be in the plot big time.
Good luck and stay safe

Great deer SD!

I've been out quite a bit and watching quite a few deer but all does and spikes. I wonder if I go hunting while this hurricane is going thru if that will change things a bit? The idea of sitting in a tree with 75mph winds doesn't seem appealing... the bucks will probably be eating the bark off the trees.

Good luck guys.

Hey guys, just checkin in. Things seemed to slow down alittle here in NJ. I have the last 5 mornings that i have hunted i have only seen 1 deer, a massive 8 point which might be the biggest deer in NJ that i have ever seen. Unfortunately he was about 100 yards from me and wouldnt come in, even to grunting or rattling. Oh well, i know he is out there. I hunted another night last week and saw 7 different bucks and no does. They were all dinks though. Sooner or later a nice one will walk by.

gonna try to sneak out this afternoon... we have a spot at our friends house that noone has hunted yet this year. We have been waiting for the rut to kick in.
It is just a smal 1/2 acre food plot surrounded by oaks & softwoods. We have Cuddeback pics of a nice 9pt, 4pt, & a 3 pt along w/ some does... and a big bull moose!!!!!
Hopefully w/ the rut kicking in I can drag in that 9 point...

Wow, place went dead for a few days!
Got out for a couple of days, saw nothing.
Have off this week and next, it's 71 degrees in the middle of November.

Here he is. An 8 pointer. Have not scored him yet. The story is on the main page under Nov 17th IL Buck (public land). I am going to bed.
