Decided its about time to start getting myself psyched for the season today so I grabbed the turkey bag and started cleaning it out from last year.
I've bought two new calls since last year's season and was suprised, as I am every year, to see how many calls I had in my pack.
I've got seven mouth calls, four slate calls (one of which has slate, aluminum, and plastic), two box calls, a crow call, and an owl call.
That's what, 15 calls in all?
I know out of them all I wind up going back to two religiously. One of my Primos mouth calls and my H.S. Strut Lil' Duece slate. I've also noticed that one days when the birds won't answer to anything else, those two calls will generally get a response.
How many calls do you pack into the woods and do you really use them all?

When I wear my vest, it has 3 pot calls. One glass, one slate, one double sided glass/slate. Quit carrying the box call. Owl Hoot Tube, Crow Call, Gobbler Shaker. 4 strikers and 2 scratch pads. Probably have 20+ diaphrams in there, but I only use 2-3 religiously. I keep 2-3 spares of each of these 3 favorite diaphrams, just in case.[8D]
Out of all those calls, I use two of the pots alot, but will probably just use the double sided this year. Use all three locators throughout day. Owl before dark, gobbler and crow during day. 2 strikers are must haves. 2-3 diaphrams.
So I guess I use 10 out of 30+.[&:] This is why I rarely wear my vest now. When I get down to bare essentials, It is just double sided pot, 1 striker, 1 scratch pad. crow call on lanyard around neck, and 3-4 diaphrams.

You tried your best and you failed miserably. The lesson is 'never try'
My vest contains 4-5 pot calls (glass and slate) 3 box calls, a push button box call, 2 crow calls, around 5 or more mouth calls and probably close to 8 strikers.
You never which one turns them on that particular day.
The ole industry sayin is, "If your vest doesn't weigh 50 lbs, your not turkey hunting" LOL [8D]
I figured it up a year ago that I could make the sounds of 30 different turkeys with all the different combos of calls. The slate calls/strikers really add up fast. I just got 2 more calls at the NWTF banquet

Lets see. Wing Bone, 6 mouth calls, 2 slates with six strikers(2main ones) crow, owl, push button and box call. and unless i get a bird thats just hammering away i will use almost every one. i'd rather sound like 10 hens than one.
