Been able to get out a few times but I'll be in training the rest of this week and next but then it's 9 straight days of hunting! Good news is I found the deer I lost last year! We tracked this buck for almost a mile and I found him 60 yds from where I shot him! The thing is you couldn't see him from the ground, only from the tree. He scored close to 130. That deer haunted me for a year now! I'll post pics soon.

hopefully everybody has been too busy hunting to post on here lately. Well I took a buck last night but it was a buck I regret shooting. Definately some ground shrinkage. I doubt he will even hit 120 and only 2 1/2 years old. I've been a little frustrated the last week and I took it out on this buck. It was my worst hunting experience ever. Mr. Murphy showed himself in the form of a little twig and the arrow ended up just grazing his belly! Well you know what happens when you open up a deer like that. I was sick watching that deer just walk off with that kind of wound. We waited 2 hours and started tracking. We actually had a good blood trail that lasted well over a mile! I'm going to stop right here on the details and just say we had to finish this deer off when we walked up on him. I know things like this happen and I practice all summer long to minimize the chances of messing up a shot, but I feel like I should appoligize to every hunter out there for representing bowhunters in this manner. I've probably shot 10-12 does in the last few years but something always goes wrong when I shoot at a buck! Just a reminder, take your time and double check everything before you touch that release! Good luck to you all and stay safe.

Hey man,
Don't be too hard on yourself. It happens to most everybody at one time or another. Several years ago I took a shot thru a hole in the brush and spine shot a buck. He dropped like a rock and I couldn't see him from the stand. I thought "he's dead but I'll give it 30 min. just in case". After I waited I got out of my stand and went to where the buck went down. He wasn't there!!!!!!! I looked around and saw him about 50 yards away dragging himself with his front feet. I had to finish him with a second arrow and it made me reflect on what I was doing bow hunting. I didn't bow hunt for a couple of years after that. I'm shure 2" lower and he would have bled out in seconds but that's hindsight now. I'm a better hunter now and have learned some valuable lessens from this. Get back out there. Good luck.
