We got rained out this morning. Was boomingpretty good when I got up at 4 AM. Been combining soybeans the last couple days before so no hunting. Hopefully this big rain system will allow us some hunting this weekend. They are talking up to 3 inches of rain over the next couple days. We don't need it now with harvest!! About a 1000 acres of Soybeans left, then 1400 acres of corn. Harvest is roughly about half done for us.

Best of luck with your hunting and anyone else's if there season starts this weekend!! Hopefully I have a hunting report or two.

Hey Tim, Good luck this season. Hope ya find another one of those Nodak bruisers. We got drowned out over here this weeken also. still 100 days left tho.

Got three more shooter bucks on film this week. One is a NT 12-14pointer(typical 10 with kickers), one a nice 8 and third looks to be a 10 with long beams. (All on one camera) I'll try to post pix later.

Gonna put out some cameras on another farm tomorrow now that the corn is harvested.

13 more days til IL opener!

Well guys, we recieved buckets of rain again, this weekend. Everything was flooded so bad we were only able to get out once. My favorite early season hunting spot is 280 acres of timber surrounded by a large river on one side, and big and now flooded creek, on the other side. Both combine into one, and the hunting area is in the fork. There's only one way in, unless you cross water, which is on an easement, about 2 miles away, since we couldn't drive down the mud roads. I've decided that I'm going to build a bridge, before the next hunting season

Here are two of the bucks I got on film last week.

Don't know if I'll see 'em during the season, but I'll be out looking.

BTW, these are on a 400 acre farm in Morgan County IL. I hope to put cameras up on another farm this week.

Check out the spade brow tines on the first buck along with the points that seem to come out of his forehead!

Second one is a nice two year old. BIG BODY!!

I developed a roll of film last night, and got a few pictures of bucks, including one really really mature buck with lots of mass, and a good frame. The rest of the bucks are borderline shooters, which I'd like to see make it another year if possible.

My father was out hunting last Wednesday, and actually passed on this 8ptr on the left. He said he was tempted, but decided he needed one more year.
