the other day when getting ready to try a different rifle for deer hunting, I took out the Stainless Steel Green Mountain Barrel with open sights (not fiber optic) and loaded the 300 grain Hornady XTP with 100 grains of T-7 2f. All shooting was done off a sand bag at 50 yards. On a clean barrel it shot a little high. The first group was a little low, but with adjustment, it shot these real good. Needless to say I loaded up and went hunting with them. Where the deer cross my stand, it ranges at 47 yards so I was pretty sure I could hit one.
In the past I have tried a lot of the Gold Dot Bullets by Speer. While accurate to about 70 yards, they lost it after that. I have checked my supply and discovered I have a box of the ones Sabotloader is talking about, so after deer season I will try them. Until then I will stick with the XTP's.
