The .300 Winchester Mag has been around for years and years and years. It has taken big game from antelope to kodiaks, and it is accurate enough that people have used it in match competition. Field proven reliability gives it the edge in my book. If I need my rifle to be an inch shorter and an ounce lighter I will just go to the gym a few more times before I hit the woods. The only way I might go with the WSM is if I had a semi. The shorter case probably operates better out of the semi action.
