Sorry James, I gotta rebutt this one.
the 270 has taken lots of elk, but it has also wounded more elk than any other caliber, its enough gun, but it will limit your shots. I would rather have my abilities limit my shots, not my gear. try an 30-06 or bigger. IF you simply cant handle the recoil of that class of rifle (30-06 and up) is the only reason I can see for useing that caliber for elk.
