It's not too often that new products hit the market that are specifically designed for disabled hunters, most target the general able-bodied population and only by chance offer some benefit to chairbound outdoorsmen. So whenever I find them, I feel obliged to help get the word out.
The first product, a cap with mask combination, I discovered at the Shot Show in Las Vegas this past February. At first glance, it looks like an ordinary camo cap/mask, but all you have to do is put it on once to see the difference. It's the first one I've ever used that you can put on with one hand. The mask material is innovative and allows a hunter to go from using just the cap to using cap and mask in 1 second without having to adjust the mask. It's ideal for people who have limited use of their hands (like me) or those with only one arm. It even has slits built in for prescription glasses wearers.
This cap is made by QuikCamo (www.quickcamo.com) and has a bow hunter's version as well as a conventional style cap and mask option.

The second product I discovered this year is a pop up blind by All About Game (www.allaboutgame.com). It's the first one of it's kind to provide wheelchair users with a means to easily access the blind once it's set up in the field. I believe the photo says it all:

This model is the AAG360BTX and 1 of 2 that offer this feature.
I can't wait to put both of these designs to the test this fall. |
