Angie with Table Mountain Outfitters checking in…I know it’s been awhile since our last post but I have to say it’s for a great reason. We have been away at our spring bear camp in Idaho without internet access. However, it was well worth it because bear hunting was fantastic!

Even though three bears may have gotten away our clients still had 100% shot opportunity. As usual, only five out of the 25 bears taken this year were “black” in color with the rest being cinnamon, chocolate and even a few blondes. Idaho is a great spot for these beautiful color phase bears so if that's what you're looking for, give us a call!
Just over 50% of the bears taken were with the hounds vs. baits. The hounds did a superb job this season when they got the chance to work, and when they did it was amazing to watch! The baits did not fall short by much. When they fired up some were so hot the hunters would fill their tags before we could get them out with the hounds. One hunter climbed out of his tree-stand after shooting his “black” bear the first night of his hunt and found himself standing face-to-face with a beautiful blonde bear. When he turned to find his trophy he looked up to noticed yet another “black” bear (this one smaller in size) peeking to see if the coast was clear to come into the bait! Three bears in a matter of minutes, on one bait! Now, that’s a hot bait!

We set up a beautiful back-country camp late in the season and had a fantastic time. There is nothing like enjoying good company around the campfire in the cool crisp mountain air. Like I said before, we are already looking to next season…
Now that bear season is over we are finally back to the Cheyenne office - arriving just in time to get our WY drawing results. Although the drawings were a success we still have several openings for some our best hunts this fall. So if you were thinking of booking a hunt but haven’t found the time to do so, give us a call.
