November is upon us and the time we deer hunters look forward to all year is finally here – the rut! Make sure you have all of your gear in order as things are already shaping up to be a great year around the country. Big bucks have been falling to hunter’s arrows and bullets for several weeks with many more to come. Be sure to check out Bill Winke’s article on finding the first hot doe in your area to maximize your chances of connecting on a bruiser buck this fall. And don’t forget to tune into our 2006 Harvest Report to see what other hunters are taking from around the country.
Until next month, be safe and good hunting,

If you are trying to shoot a big-antlered mature buck, the rut is not as cut-and-dried as many believe. What few dominant bucks there are in your hunting area are likely tied up with does just as soon as they all start to come into estrus and so those bucks don’t move much during the daylight. Your best chance for shooting one actually occurs before the rut peaks and again after.

Saturday morning, October 14th, long time HuntingNet.com friend Andrae D'Acquisto came up big and scored his 6th Boone & Crockett whitetail by bow and arrow. This giant grosses 191" and will net well into the 170's. Andrae called this buck the "Tuning Fork" buck due to its matching, split G-4's that look like tuning forks. This is the first buck harvested with Andrae's latest product, the all-new Lone Wolf Bow.
