Long before huge corporate
conglomerates took over the neighborhood block, hunters and shooters alike
would stroll over to the mom and pop shop across the street owned by their very
own neighbor. The shop was small but had everything you needed. And if they
didn't, you'd be sure there would be a special order placed for you. It was
more than a shop. It was the outdoorsman's coffee shop-- a place of gathering
to catch up with old friends and meet new ones, where stories out in the field
were exchanged and tips were handed down, where everyone's opinion about a
product will be heard and some good old advice would be passed down. It was warm, inviting and
personable. When you came back three weeks later from a hunt, they'd remember where
you went and asked you, "how 'd it go?" They'd probably ask you how
your family is doing too.
You don't find that sort of
service around much these days. So when you do, it's something you secretly
want to keep to yourself but can't help but spread the good word. Huntingnet
isn't big on keeping secrets. In fact, we always like to spread the good word
along if we come across something we really like. Luckily, we've stumbled upon a website
that takes this small town local gun shop relationship and has found it a
rightful place in the online world. Call us nostalgic. Call us sentimental. But
don't call us crazy!
MidwayUSA is the epitome of
this neighborhood store feel. Larry Potterfield started this business as a
neighborhood gun store, telling stories over the gun counter and reloading
bench. Since then, the business has grown from a simple gun shop to an arsenal
of products including everything for shooting, reloading, and gunsmithing. More
importantly to us, they even have their own line of hunting gear. With the
recent launch of their turkey hunting section, it's
the perfect time to stock up on supplies for the season! It's a turkey hunter's
candy store full of items you like and gear you need: blinds, cameras,
clothing, ammunition, optics, decoys and clothing! Ask them what will help improve your game!
The great thing about
MidwayUSA, that separates them from many competitors, is that they are still able
to successfully build quality relationships with their customers. Larry is
still reachable and, if you're in their Missouri
neighborhood, you can pick up your product from their
warehouse. Their customer service has been very helpful in helping
select products and choosing between brands. It's refreshing, but not
surprising considering they have over 30 years of experience! Word of mouth has gotten them a long way, as well as the many quality awards they've received such
as "The Missouri Quality Award" and "ISO certification".
So their service is great, what else? We were also impressed with the usability of their site. The navigation is easy. You can search for a product by brand
or category. Their selection for hunting is decent. They have wish lists
available if you want to save what you're looking at as a reference later. If
you don't like purchasing items online, but like the convenience of browsing,
you can still place your order via phone, mail or fax! The
product page includes reviews from other customers who have used the product.
All in all, a good company! Come
for the product but return for the good service. Curious about what other products they offer? Stop by to take a gander!
